Any of you guy's seen the Stingray on ebay...Black with a Japanese sun pickguard?, would that have been a production PG or a self made one? I reckon its late eighties, early nineties...

Self made I think. But the easiest way to do something like that would be a clear guard, then you can put whatever you want under it

Back in the mid '80s a firm called Chandler in the Bay Area made custom pickguards. IIRC, they had a huge selection of screens and you could send in a tracing of your pickguard and they'd make it for you. I still have a Chandler tort pickguard for my white '79 lying around somewhere. They did a nice job on it.
