I know a lot of us play Dunlop Jazz III picks here, so I figured I throw this OT out there. I bought a couple of red Jazz III picks I found in Hiroshima a few weeks ago with "Eric Johnson" written on the back. I never liked anything but the black Jazz IIIs but I love these! Anyone else tried them? With the letters on the back they have a better texture and the feel is slightly different in some way. Great!

The Jazz III Ultex picks having been getting some attention at the JP forums. I bought one and have to say it is a mighty fine pick. It was hard to get used to the size but the attack and feel are great. I'll have to try the EJ picks out too...

How are the EJ ones different from plain reds, is it just the texture from the writing?

I tried the Ultex ones and didn't like them as much as regular Jazz IIIs because they aren't beveled around the edge, which makes them feel really different to me.

I've used the red ones. They have a little more "play" in them. I find the black ones must better for speed and a better "attack"

I've been using the ultex jazz III picks for a while. It was different at first, but now I am used to it. I think that the biggest thing that helps me about these picks is that there seems to be a more constant amount of pick for attacking the string. I hope that makes sense.

Blacks here. I tried the reds too, they give me a sweeter tone, but I don't play guitar to be sweet :p Those EJ seem to be just the reds with a different print.

dunlop jazz 3's are the only picks I use.

Not to mention EJ's one of my favorite players ever!!!

I'm torn between the ultex and the reds, more experimenting to come.

I take it the EJ ones are like the reds?

The red ones also slip on me when I'm playing really fast metal rhythm stuff. The black ones don't. I wonder if the extra texture on the EJ ones would prevent this problem though?

This is what I mean. These "EJ" signature picks are not the normal "red" Jazz III picks. I don't like the normal red ones either. But these EJ red ones are great!

Bought some black ones a while ago, never looked back. Then bought the Ultex ones when they became available and again, never looked back. Converted my father too ;)
