Man, when I got on the forums tonight, I wasn't expecting to read anything like this....
kinda puts a lot of the little things in perspective.
I never had the opportunity to see him live, but I loved his songs and his playing.
R.I.P. Jeff Healey.
I hadn't heard anything of his health issues, and I had even wondered recently what he had been doing musically, since he's kinda been out of the picture for awhile...
One of my heroes too. I had the joy of seeing him play a few times. I'm just home from a gig myself, a career path I'm happy to say he was partly responsible for me following. Not nice news to come home to. I'm shedding a few tears here.
I had cover to cover playing in my car yesterday and everything, Jeff was one of my biggest inspirations, when I saw him in Roadhouse, I wanted to get into guitar proper,
41 man that´s way to early, what a talent he was. Thank god we nowadays have the possibility of recording music so we can hold on to the artists music to remember him.
I've never been very tuned in to the guitar player scene, and that means I lost out on a lot of talent. My only connection with Jeff - other than hearing a little of him here and there - was that Angel Eyes broke when I was managing a couple of radio stations in Wa. state. I never interfered with my program director's play list, but I went straight to his office and insisted he put the tune in hot rotation. Quite a talent, and perhaps even more impressive is the affection he appears to generate among his friends and fans.
This is very sad. Didn't know that he had to deal with such serious health issues.
I hate this cancer s***! Just lost a dear friend at the age of 30.
We are planning to fly to mars but can't cope with cancer. This is ridiculous!
Jeff will be missed!
I remember seeing him on TV here in the UK when he released See the Light, I rushed out and bought it, couldn't believe how much expression and feeling he had in his playing, especially with his unique style. Amazing stuff.
