Forgive us Gav....we tend to use the more traditional English (or American) on here....it's probably easier for all nationalities to understand....but don't give up on us.

I wonder where pride and education went if this "spelling" is turning into an acceptable way of communication. English obviously isn't my native language but I at least try to speak it like it should. I couldn't care less how you type in your personal SMS or MSN-messages but on a forum with people from all over the world and ranging from 15-60+ it's not too much to ask to at least attempt writing proper english?

It takes me twice as long as normal to decipher that opening post. And why? Is it time-saving? Since when did v = what? And then throw around "I have a life" as if asking for a normal way of communication is indicative of extreme nerdhood?

Well, let me be the grammar police then. I for one hate the hollowing out of both dutch and english with a vengeance. I'll take book-grammar over facebook-grammar any day. Sorry for that.

Funny thing is, in my experience, most people who don't speak English very well type in a way that is far easier to understand than a lot of natural English speakers do.
I just tend to ignore people who cant be bothered typing properly, even if they're asking for help. If they really needed help they should take a few seconds extra to actually type coherent sentences.

I believe the reason is people who speak English as a second language learn "proper English" and are more articulate without the slang. My wife is fluent in 6 languages and she tells me that if slang is used it can be difficult to comprehend sometimes. Still, I have no idea what the post was about. I think it was about spending a day off of work to play his EBMM.

I agree 100% !!!

Not being a native speaker, some posts of you fellow knuckleheads sometimes give me hard time understanding what exactly you are trying to say, but most of the time I think I get the point.

Not this time

I for one feel that it is not polite to use these "style" of language here, please leave that to twitter or the likes.

To me it is more a means of excluding those who are not familiar with that way of writing and I don't see any point in that.

Gav is new to the forum, so we should welcome him around here.
