Aren't even Airlines supposed to be transporting any kind of luggage without causing damage to it? :p

That is what I was thinking. Souldn't the airlines be held accountable for what they destroy in the process? Seeing how I paid almost $300 for additional luggage on a trip last year, (snowboarding with all my crap), it would seem to me that if I pay additional fees to take my stuff with me, the airlines should be obligated to pay for any damages. BTW- all my stuff made it back and forth without any damage:rolleyes:

See, that is what blows. Thay can charge us whatever they want, yet when it comes down to resposibility and accountability, thier lawyers somehow manage to keep the payout to about 25%. How about us only paying 25% of the additional baggage fees?!? What a bunch of doorknobs:mad:

They take no responsibility for anything, just like nearly every other business out there.

I agree with the earlier post about carrying the guitar on the plane with you (when it is possible)... Airlines have a clauses about the value of the items being flown and what they will reimburse........... if I am not mistaken (??).

Can the remainder of the headstock be entombed in a glass case for his fire mantle at home? :D

Im just wondering in a hardshell case how the head stock got completely severed? Maybe one of the high speed airline employees wanted to take it out and play it and broke it???

something heavy may have been placed on top and it happened during some turbulence? it would be very hard for employees to break it

Drop it on the ground headstock first. Well now I know never to take any of my good guitars on vacation.

Terrible, terrible news....

I won't be taking any of my higher end pieces on a flight with me if I can avoid it.

On a side note - somebody said that guitar was a ruby finish, but it looks awfully walnut-y. Anybody have some better pics?

O_O That's horrible. I would s^%# myself if that happened. And such a personal guitar to him, too, that's even worse! Not that there's ANY excuse for them breaking it. Something huge must have happened to break a that thing off. Anyone ever tried to break a guitar neck (probably not), let alone in its case?

Sorry about your guitar, Mr. Bonamassa : (

Ouch! I'm amazed at how even travel-hardened luggage can end up thoroughly smashed after a single trip.

That's because they go out of their way to find new ways to break stuff. I really do think they enjoy destroying other people's valuables. It must be nice to put up a sign that says 'I'm not responsible for my actions', and then be able to do whatever you want.
