If I may make an observation, the BFRs seem like BMW's M cars, Cadillac's V Series, Benz's AMG, or Audi's S cars. Even if they are out of reach of those who might afford the regular line of instruments, these instruments may have a halo effect, which may bring more people to try or to seek out regular EBMMs because of the reputation that BFRs may bring to the company.

I understand that the four colours shown/discussed will be all that are available initially. Are there any plans at the moment to introduce a sunbursty-type finish similar to the ones we have seen JP playing recently later on?

Actually JP requested that we not produce the color as he thinks it is too stodgy. WE decided to simplify and offer the same four colors for both the Lukes and Jp F-1. Also on the heels of the sil20th we didnt want to produce a ltd or bfr that too closely resemble the 20th's

Just hoping BP or someone else in the know could tell us a bit about how the F-1 ended up with a finished neck. It's an interesting change considering the player.

I thought that it was already answered... Mahogony necks have to have some sort of finish on them... I know I can't think of a guitar that has ever had an unfinished Mahogony neck anyway.

It won't feel any different than the Ibanez JPM did once the satin was worn smooth really. It doesn't seem all that shocking to me I guess.

Gosh, I just can't wait to hear one... When JP brings out the proto on Score, you can litterally hear the differnece... but now that it has a mahog neck... I really wonder how it will sound.

I know I know I'm working on it! He believes that there are better things he can spend our money on at the moment rather such a frivolous item as a guitar, but I'm going to convince him otherwise. Well, I'll actually put down the deposit behind his back so he then has no choice, but shhhhhh you didn't hear me say that

Dave he DID want to walk out with it, but he wants his first AL to be made for him, and to be exactly what he wants, which is fair enough. That cherryburst wasn't far off tho!

Sure it's a nice guitar, but through that rig? I'd question that. With that amount of gain (and i do like JP's sound) I think it would be hard to hear the subtle differences in tone between the regular JP and his "sitrucci". Doesn't sound much different to me. However, I do think the F-1's will be different sounding to regular JP's. Will the F-1's always be part of the BFR range? IS the BFR thing going to be permanent?

What does "stodgy" mean? Is it a cross between "stupid" and "dodgy"?

Well, there are more mids, and I noticed it on Raise the Knife, and then I was doing something else when he was playing it on Goodnight Kiss, and I knew he had switched to it.

That walnut-burst JP7 is to die for.

I don't have much of a problem whatsoever with finished necks, but I have to ask:

If I were to scuff it a bit to make it less sticky (say with emory paper or 550 grit sandpaper), would that void my warranty?

A minor point that wouldn't keep me from buying one.

A good way to make your finished neck feel unfinished is get some of the green 3M scrubby pads, wet it down and go at the neck with it, using a little pressure. You can later buff up the finish to it's original gloss.
