Just a quick question to those who've played both Petrucci models, how does the neck on the BFR compare to the birdseye maple on the regular model?

Thanks.

I asked the same question when I was considering ordering my BFR. The response I got was basically that the finish was not sticky (like a LP), and that if it is good enough for JP then it must be fine. Everyone said it was not an issue that it was painted. I have to admit that i'm in love with my maple neck on my mystic dream. I'm still a LITTLE concerned about the finished neck, but that's because I haven't played one for YEARS. As long as it is as fabulous as everyone says then it will be a non-issue. I should know in the next month how it works out for me. I'm at the 4 month mark in my waiting time, so I wouldn't think it would be too much longer now...

Hope this helps! I'm sure others will chime in...

Well, now THAT is a topic, that has literally been discussed hundreds of times.

The BFR neck feels slightly different, it does feel a bit bigger (at least that's what I feel), the standard JP6 neck feels thinner and more comfortable to me.

BUT, it's indeed a slight change and no issue at all, unless You have really sweaty hands.

I hope it helps You

What I do when playing is I always warm up with the standard JP, as it feels a bit better for me. After that I can effortlessly switch between both of them.

Yes, it has been discussed before, but not in a while, and that means there will be some new opinions to be shared on the subject...

:) You made a good point about warming up on the standard and then picking up the BFR... That was a new opinion i'd not heard before! :D

The crazy thing is I have 4 guitars which all feel different, and 3 of them feel REALLY different form each other. So it was quite an undertaking to find out the right order to play them. Now I usually first play the standard JP, then the BFR, and then the other two if time permits.
