Tip for ya. These days, when you get a new Boss pedal, in some models you get a couple of rubber blocks to attatch to the underside of the pedal to stop it slipping around when you use it. They come in really handy for blocking the trem when you restring.

And where exactly do you put it ? Because there's so little space between the trem and the body

Hi, i'm quite new for this forum, but i also own the JP6 guitar, and i have a question about it.
Could anyone tell me how to change the strings on this guitar? (i really mean 'HOW') is there any special tips or sth i have to follow? (i used to have the Fender Strat, and that's not difficult for me to figuire it out how to change the strings. But that is not true for this JP6).

Thanks for your helppp!

Hey Suneo, welcome to the forums!

It's pretty easy after a time or two. Just detune the string until it is loose, and loosen the locking mechanism on the back of the headstock for that string (righty tighty, lefty loosy!). You may have to turn the tuner to get the hole to line up straight with the nut to make it easier to get the string out of the tuning peg. Once free of the peg, just push and wiggle the string near the bridge and it should poke out the appropriate hole in the backplate on the back of the guitar. To replace the string, you just poke the string through the appropriate hole, pull it all the way through, string it through the tuning peg (again, turning it so the hole is lined up right will make it easier), then pull all the slack out of it that you can and tighten the locker on the back of the headstock up, snip the excess string hanging out, and tune up! Of course, I like to get all the strings on there, one at a time, tune them up and then stretch them (pull the string away from the guitar with medium pressure and back again, over and over), and repeat this until I can no longer stretch them and change the note. This will keep it in tune better! Hope this helps...

The strings that JP uses depends on what the guitar is tuned to. E or Eb is 9's. It goes to higher gauges as the tuning goes lower. He has about 15 axes that he tours with. Lot's of different tunings, and string gauges.

Ok, being a total Noob to EB and all.........what the hell strings are the 2007 JP7's shipping with?
I ask because mine came today and I'm such a paranoid ass, I need to have extra stings at all times.
I have been playing DR strings for years, I have tried EB strings in the past, but they always seemed to bright for my taste.
These how ever are rockin'. So I'd like to know...when I go to order some online or where ever, what to I tell the counter jockey I want.
What's the exact name/guage of the string set.
Thanks much.

the lighter strings probably causes less people to die as well, if world domination mode is on. you have to consider the fans wellbeing.

I played a JP at my local dealer the past weekend, and I couldn't quite get it into world domination mode. Nobody died, but I think a few people were sick when I got done.

You have the Ernie Ball RPS 7-string "10s" set on your axe, with more strings on the way.

As of late, looks like JP is using 9s on both his 6 and 7 string guitars. Even for Eb tunings. He uses 10s for D and 11s for C. That was just on the latest interview he did on www.musicplayer.com.

I just re-read an interview with JP from Guitar One today. This was a few months ago when he was on the cover with Paul Gilbert. He said for standard tuning on his 6-strings he is using .010's.

Pretty sure he’s using 10’s. Seem to remember that from one of Maddie’s set up videos. Plus, his signature guitars ship with 10’s.
