I just found a bunch of newly uploaded videos that Johnny Hiland has done for Trufire.com. He's playing Axis Sports (not Super Sports), SSS with pickguard, maple neck with big dots, and what looks like a non-compensated nut. Very cool!

Anyone know if these are new, or did he buy up some used ones?

And here's one from last year with a Silhouette and what's that weird thing on the pickguard?

Thanks for the links. The object on the pickguard is called a RunBarr. http://www.ezrollguitar.com/ :)

Dr Kev... There is a video further down on one of the links you posted where he introduces the red and the black one. (I think the video was called something like "guitars and amps") He says they are from 1998. I would assume that EBMM fixed the dots on the neck for him. I will find and post the video when I get home from work later unless someone finds and posts it first.

Last year (Nov 2014) at the Philly Guitar Show Johnny stopped by the EBMM booth to shoot the **** with Derek and he had the red one. Didn't have the knobs and big dots, and was MAYBE not SSS. I told him that I had just bought a green one on eBay and he was like, "That was you?!? I was thinking about buying that one too!"

I suspect he had the dots upgraded to large dots as he has vision problems (I believe he's legally blind but may be wrong). Not sure if EBMM changed his dots or if he had it done by his own guy.

Yes Johnny bought all those guitars on the used market. Most likely Ebay.

He loves the sport and kind of adopted it for the time being. He still has the Silos we built for him and is still partial the the Reflex guitars.

Johnny Should be getting out on the road this coming year!

Any chance at a limited reissue release of the Axis Sport in JH's honor? I know I'd love a trans gold SSS model...

Yes they were cool guitars. Ash body and singles in that shape was a nice package, However were about moving forward mostly and i do not think we had enough success with the Sport to bring it back in the fold.

I've always thought of the Sports as the one to capture from the MM line. Reissuing them to me would lose the appeal of the lack of them. I've had 3 or 4 of them and loved them all, the MM90's in them are just awesome. Never had an SSS or SSH, that might be interesting. Nice to see someone like Johnny playing these and them getting the attention they deserve.

I love my Green HH sport... Bought it new in 1998. It's actually the guitar I'm playing most right now for some strange reason. I do miss my old MM90 Sport, but I have no problem looking for one 2nd hand even though a minty fresh one would be nice. Looking forward to the new models at NAMM this year!

Are you headed to the Philly show this year? I'll be there. It would be nice to say hi a fellow forum member.

Yep, I'll be there @IceCreMan! Probably Saturday. I usually try to get there pretty early and will hit the road by around 2pm to head back to NY.

Great. I'll be there first thing Saturday as well. I'll keep an eye out for ya. It'd be nice to me the man behind what's possibly one of the world's greatest collection of guitars ;)
