so, after many questions, how the different the regular JP sounds to the BFR, here is a short sample, which i recorded for a quick comparison.
the sample is only a overdriven signal, a clean sample will follow soon.

first you hear the BFR with the Crunch Lab in bridge position, second you hear the 2007LE JP with a D-sonic in bridge position.

BFR vs. standard JP

the used gear:

guitar - ADA MP-1 preamp - g-major - digital out - m-audio delta1010LT digital in - IR file Mesa Traditional / SM57

I can hear a difference. The BFR is more aggressive in the mids with more bright in the upper mids.
The LE 07 is my main guitar right now and I can hear the D-Sonic having more rounder, boxy sound in the lower mids. I'm not totally convinced with the D-sonic because of this sound. may end up swap mine out with something else.
thanks a lot Joe, for this comparison. How do you like your new blackburst BFR so far? How does it compare to your other JPs?

Hehe nice Metropolis Pt 1 :)
Although I would like you to compare a BFR and a regular JP with the Crunchlabs.
They make a difference(obviously :p), both my regular JPs have Crunchlabs and Liquifires and I'm interested to how how they compare to a BFR. I find the body shape on the regular JPs more comforatle because of the scoop but I really haven't had enough time with a BFR to judge.

I have a JPX and a standard JP6, both with the Crunchlab/Liquifire pups. The JPX has much, much more midrange presence and better note definition all around. The JP6 has kind of "scooped" mids with more of a treble "cut", I think it's a more classic metal sound. The JPX seems to stand out better when I'm playing against a backing track, while the JP6 I think stands back in the mix a little and under high gain situations really shows it in the treble range. If that makes any sense.

Just my take on the tones.

i can´t really compare a BFR CL with a JP CL, because the DDII has an ebony board and this gives the DDII more topend as on the std. JPs.
so, i can record a few takes with:
std. JP with original Custom Wound PU, std. JP with D-sonic, DDII with CL and BFR with CL...and they all sound different
a 1:1 comparison isn´t possible at the moment.
but overall you can hear in the sample, that the BFR is a bit darker and has more lowend.

Great Job Joe

BP should hire you for producing sound clips for the EBMM site. He has already hired Dizzy for organizing the international distribution ... so you have your chance.
