Just bought a mint condition 2001 JP Mystic Dream

I know a lot of threads have been started on D Sonic vs. Crunchlab, but I couldn't find any on the original custom wound DiMarzio vs. the Crunchlab.

Is one more open than the other?

I have a JPX, and I've already decided I need to put a Liquifire in the neck, but not sure how the Crunchlab will sound vs. the custom in basswood.

I find that the original custom wound to be more even tonally and less midheavy than the D-Sonic (but not really scooped). It does not have quite as much output as the D-Sonic.

I'm a big fan of the original pickups for that reason.

Thx Pete.

What about compared to the CrunchLab? I'm honestly pretty happy with the sound out of the bridge pickup. The neck pickup def lacks a little bit, though.

To my ear they are very similar. Lots of harmonics and richness.
