Anyone have a wiring schematic whereby I can modify my soon to arrive JP-6 (with Peizos) to have a push-pull on the tone pot to split the humbuckers ala the Ibanez JSs?

Thanks in advance.

Quick note here- in the middle position, the pickup switch actually splits the pickups (one coil from each).

You can go two ways here- add a push/pull pot to split to the bridge or neck HB on their own (e.g. not affect the middle position), or just revert to a standard HH configuration where the middle position on the selctor switch doesn't split the coils, and then pulling the switch adds this in.

The latter approach is easy- just undo the wiring and use a standard diagram at DiMarzio's site. The former is a little trickier, but not too tough. If you still really want to do this when the guitar arrives, hit me up and I can help you out.

*But*- a lot of people that go the coil split route often revert back. What you end up with are noisy pickups. If you play with any amount of gain when split you're really going to notice the noise in the split neck or bridge position.

IMO, a better option is to buy a $20 "Q-Filter" from Billlawrence.com- it's a variable inductor that lets you reduce the inductance of your pickups (taking the heat off and turning them into sweeter more single coil-ish pus). Easier to wire up (just add it to your tone control), and when engaged your pickups will still be noise-free. My two cents, and I've used them a bunch 'o times - including on my Axis SS.
