I don't recall who but I remember seeing someone's JP from this board with chrome knobs - and I thought that it looked awesome. So, I wanted to change the knobs on my JP7 to chrome knobs to match the rest of the hardware. I bought regular chrome knobs at my local GC, but they were too small.

I tried searching the forum, but I couldn't find the information I was looking for, and I don't have any calipers. What is the diameter of the pots on the JP models? Any idea where I can order some chrome knobs online that fit the JP?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Regards,
Juan

The question was answered in PM, but i'll post it here for others who are interested.

The shafts on the pots EBMM uses are exactly 1/4" in diameter. The chrome knobs i bought were a little smaller, possibly a metric size. They're chrome plated brass, which is a relatively soft metal, so drilling them out to 1/4" was pretty easy.

(The shop where i bought them didn't have any other knobs, so one of their techs just grabbed each knob with a padded pair of pliers, backed out the set screw and drilled out the hole to 1/4"... they fit perfectly.)

I had a pair of chrome Gotoh knobs at home for another guitar (but i'd need 3 for the JP7 with the piezo), and those fit the 1/4" shafts without a problem, so for those of you shopping for new pots, look for the Gotoh ones and all will be well.

Darren,

Thanks again for that information. I was able to find 1/4" pots online at a pretty well known guitar parts website with initials SM (I don't know if I can post other sites on here, so anyone can PM me if you can't find them online).

I will post pics of my JP7 when I get the new knobs installed - should look great with the chrome hardware.

Regards,
Juan
