Hi,

i am a fan of mmguitars. My last fav was a Luke III with a very fine working Tremolo. Now i got a JP Majesty, but i have problems with staying in tune not only when using the Tremolo, but also when playing and bending (not extreme). Especially the g-String is very quick out of tune. Any help?

Cheers

Hi Superwash and welcome to the forum.
First off - before anybody else says it, it's kind of an unwritten law that you have to post pics of yer MM guitars - we'd all like to see them.
Tunning stability is usually down to string slippage problems or friction either in the nut or on the trem pivot points.

As you have already have a MM guitar in your collection I'm assuming that you know how to string the guitar, which is not the same as a conventional guitar which requires the string to be wrapped around the post a few times.
With the MM guitars, just line up the hole in the tunning post which should be at 6 o'clock / 12 O'clock position, pull the string tight and lock off, then tune up = no string wrap around the post.

Now as you have said that the problem is with one specific string, I would be turning my attention to the nut. If the string binds in the nut tuning stability will be hell. Make sure the slot is ok to deal with your guage string, but first off I would try lubing the string in the nut - nut sauce or graphite or chap stick. There's loads of stuff out there. Cheap and cheerful way is to use a piece of sand paper and sand the tip of a pencil. Use the graphite dust in the slot - small amount - and see how that goes?

Let us know how you get on?
