Hi guys, so my JP is having some interesting pickup issues. I switch to the bridge and sometimes my volume gets cut in half and the sound is all muddy. After flicking it a few more times it comes back but it is still very annoying.

When I was doing a string change recently my claw-earthwire snapped, I am moving house and I don't know where my solder is, so I simply exposed some new wire and squeezed it in one of the screw-holes in the trem claw.

Is it likely that this is my problem? Should I simply earth it to the back plate with the other earth wire?

Is there another issue that may have caused this? I have done a search on here, it seems a number of people have had the problem, but no-one knows what needs to be done?

Thanks.

It should really be soldered. Hard to say for sure, but the intermittent connection could be the problem here. If it still persists, I'd check the switch.

Like Beej said solder it first. If that doesn't fix it look at the switch, but I think a bad connection is probably your problem.
