Hello!

I was wondering if it's necessary to change the tremolo springs every once in while? Like if they wear out or something.

I've had my JP for 3 1/2 years now and at the least the springs are pretty dirty by now.

Thanks yall and take care.

Hi jpmrulez

I don't think that there should be a need to change the springs in the trem.

I think that you'd be pretty hard pushed to wear them out.

I think that there are plenty of 50 year old guitar still with the original springs, so I think you'll be ok for a little while longer.

Ok, cool. Thanks Jimmyb!

I was just wondering because I've had the backplate off the whole time, and the springs are covered with a mix of dust, dirt, etc. so maybe this could affect the properties of the springs.

It might make them a bit noisy but the spring itself should be ok.
Try taking one out at a time and blasting them with some WD 40 whilst rolling the spring between your fingers and opening the coils. Wipe the excess off, replace and "jobs a good un!"
