Now here is the real story. Jetfrets has hurt themselves in their enthusiasm...They should .NEVER EVER post pictures of spec work for artists without their approval and also making sure that the artist like the product. In this case john tweeted that he was checking the jetfretz out just for a tweet..thought they were cool the first day....didnt like them at all the scond day there has been no day three with them....

I am not picking on Jetfrets this is the danger of getting ahead of yourself with an artist

Do I read "EBONY" on this neck. Did we ever have a model with an ebony neck?

fretboard, dargie 2, the stealth guitars, the koas, the jpx (and iirc) black sugar have ebony fretboards.

yeah sorry you´re right, the dark wood (on the pics) is ebony, so it´s "only" the fretboard. Then the neck is rosewood? I was a bit irritated as the colour is so light

That's a mahogany neck...I think it has been for some time on all the BFRs and JPX. Those jetfretz look way too over powering. I dont see how that can be useful and when it comes to a re-fret eventually I think you would need a re-neck instead haha. I feel bad for that neck being sacrificed for something not worth it.

It clearly looks like the whole neck was stripped before they did the work. I dont think EBMM performed the work...that's why you see no sig on the headstock either. Of course unless they got a blank stripped neck directly from EBMM per JPs request.

My thought was that they're so huge they almost give you the effect of a scalloped fretboard cause you sure as heck would have to push down real hard on the string to touch the fretboard! Haha!

I have few questions for those familiar with the Jetfretz product:

* What exactly is the benefit compared with the regular jumbo frets?

* Isn't it dangerous to remove that huge amount of wood from the fretboard for installation? Are there any potential structural problems?

* If this is indeed some sort of scalloping isn't it easier to just scallop the fretboard?

Thanks!

First off Jet Fretz has gotten way too much publicity for making one guitar that JP doesnt favor. If you guys want to persue it contact them or talk about it oon another forum....no hard feelings but enough is enough

They stripped an existing one we had nothing to do with it

But the 20" radius and SS frets JP was referring to in MY original post is an EBMM job, right ?

i.e Jet Fretz thing is a different story, no ?

Hey BP, has JP ever tried true temperment styled frets? I imagine that he must have, being the tone-master that he is and all.

those are the squiggly frets that ive seen steve vai with?

he might not have... i think that would have to be a ernie ball job to let him test it, i dont think you can mod a guitar to have those frets. or maybe you can?

anyway stainless steel frets are awesome. stainless steel frets plus ebony fretboard is the smoothest combination possible. ive had the pleasure..

The 20 radius has got to be incredible... not sure if I'd like it, but wow, that'd be a crazy feature on a production guitar.
