Hey ... just throwing this out there....

i really absolutely love my EBJPM, its serisouly the coolest functional working guitar ive ever come across. except ... i dont get much up pull out of the trem without breaking a high string. Im not talking like vai up pulls but just like an even whole step? maybe im hoping for too much? you know... like Jeff Beck. I know beck has his set up with the trem sorta leaning forward but, idk about the EBJPM being setup like that.

Anyways... the angle that the strings rest on in the block is really steep, almost 90 degrees, which makes any teetering beyond a grace note up pull risky buisness. Anybody else notice this, and is kinda only kinda bummed out? other than that i think its the best tremolo out there!!! i wish i could buy them seperately or if EB would make them an option on all thier guitars!!! OMG!!! that would be almost heaven!!! I would have every guitar they make with a petrucci trem and lock tuners. I wish i could have got that horribly beat up EBJPM that was on ebay a while back. Could have done some sweet things to that poor guitar. anyways... like i said... just throwing it out there.

God bless,

Dude,

None of mine look like that angle-wise. Do you have yours zeroed out (bridge plate parallel to the body) properly (feel a JP forum thread coming on...hehe). that could account for your ish. I get MASSIVE pullup w/o breaking strings like 2 steps or something. This is true for ALL of my axes. Could be a setup issue as I stated. Seems to be one of the better nonlocking systems out there, the warbley stuff comes across great on these.....smack-o-the bar and wrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Reeeeooooowwwwww!

hehehehe...hey OC, could you do that noise again!

I can also get some really good pulls on the trem myself. Sorry, I haven't had that kind of an issue with any of mine. My JP-7 is a little stiff on the up pull, but nothing that I can't handle.

YEah the trem should be flush with the body, all level.

I get a very nice poull up without string breakage as well. about 2 steps.

i never stated that i have mine setup like that... i ONLY stated that Jeff Beck has his Fender Strat Tremolo setup like that to achieve up-pull and merely suggested that maybe this was the only solution. I DO in fact have my trem on my EBJPM set parallel to the body and every time i have tried to go for the up pull, anything more than a quarter step to a half, my high b or e and even low A has broke at the bridge. Since none of you have this problem, i guess ill have to send John an email or a PM. Thanks,

God bless,

That's cool man. I remeber you had some issues with your axe. Always a bummer when that happens....at least you are jammin' with no problems!! :D
