Hi guys I'm new here and i need to know what you all think about a Suhr Custom Modern compared to a JP12?
I am dying for a JP12 but i would also like a custom built!!! damn, decisions decisions! the thing that i'm most worried about is the neck prof. on the Suhr i think it will be beefier than a Jp. anyone care to chime in and shed some light . thanks all Rockk till you drop!!!

I think you will find everyone here partial towards the JP12...

That being said, it only matters what you think - you really need to try each and see which you prefer

Hi Motospycho and welcome!

If you are worried about the neck profile on the Suhr, you'd probably better off asking over on the Suhr forum. There are guys around here that love their Suhr guitars too, but this is the EBMM forum so folks will generally know more about the JPs and may not have experience with the suhr neck you want.

Besides, neck profile may not be the end of the story. None of us have your fingers, technique, or preferences and the combination of fret size, fingerboard radius and width will change how comfortable a neck is, rather than any one parameter. Like Mike said, you've really got to try 'em first. (Not that that's always easy to do, I realise that).

If youre looking at a custom order suhr they can do any carve you want on the neck. Youre also looking at any where from 6-12 months for it to be built. Ive played a few suhr's and even considered having one built and still went EBMM and havent looked back

Ok let's see... you're young, inexperienced with high end guitars or guitars in general and you want us to tell you what you would like best. Let me throw you a bone. You are considering instruments by two of the best guitar companies on the planet. What you like best will come down to your hands and ears. Go play them and see what you think. If you can't demo them flip a coin. Both are high quality. Good luck.

John Suhr is a very very talented builder of all things...I have nothing but respect for what he does....you really have to go with the one that makes you the happiest.

Handled with class by BP. As said you are putting two of the best instruments on the planet against each other. Can't go wrong with either. In the end it's your preferences that will make the decision.

Hey guys thanks for all your great replies. I really appreciate all the help you give me. I think i'm going with what my "GUTS" tell me: EBMM JP12!!! thanks all and Rock on!!! oh and yngzaklynch just to let you know i'm not "YOUNG". please don't assume anything . I am asking cause' i don't have the chance to try out any of these 2 guitars, that's why i wanted to know what you guys thought about the diff. neck profiles!!! (assuming someone's tried both and could give me an honest "NON BIASED" opinion) the only thing you're right about is that i'm inexperienced with high end quality guitars! thanks guys, Rock on!

I have both Musicman and Suhr, I thought I would end up selling my Musicman guitars once the Suhr arrived, but that wasn't the case, the Suhr blew me away but it isn't better than my Silhouette Special, it's completely different, the Suhr is a lot more expensive and that's because it's 100% custom build, neck profile, pickups, woods, the lot. My Musicman guitars cost a lot less but that's because they aren't custom built, the build quality is no different, the feel and quality of the materials is also identical, I'm a fan of both - I have Musicman guitars with Suhr pickups in them, that says it all!

I do find it mind boggling when anyone asks what guitar they should buy on one of the axes they want to buy home forum! Do you actually expect to everyone here to say Suhr lol. As stated you have to go play both and in this case you cant lose either way since both build as good a guitar as there is. I am not trying to come off wrong but if you ask the same question on the Suhr forum you are going to get the same results. We have a lot of class act forum members as does John, who personally is one of the classiest guys =period!

Im not being patronizing John Suhr is very talented and has a great crew. You have to realize that the world needs more not less great choices in guitars.

I hope you didn't take what I said that way BP. I think you handled the question with class and respect of another great builder.

JP12 or Suhr neck profiles

Hey straycat113 I am "NOT" asking which guitar to buy!!! I am asking if anybody has experience with both neck profiles, so that i will have an idea as to which guitar neck will suit me best! maybe it came across the wrong way, i dunno, anyhow I know perfectly that I would have to try them both to know which suits me best, but where i live there are no Suhr dealers and those who have EBMM do NOT have the JP12!!! hope i am clear this time. P.S. by the way i know I have my heart set on the JP12, so if i can't try it i'll just order it "BLINDFOLDED" and hope it works out!!! by the way i would never buy a guitar without giving it a test ride first by i have total faith in EBMM. Rock on and thanks for the great help from a lot of guys who understood my point.
