JP15 battery drainage and possible improvements by EBMM

Hi,

I practice, or try to, :) 3 times a day.
Plugging and unplugging the jack is a little worrisome for the connection... I know EBMM are quality guitars but...
wrt the battery life I think it'd be cool to have a small switch somewhere...maybe next to the jack inputs so that when I know I have a session with some acoustic sound I can just leave it ON. Usually it would be on the off position.

Suggestions? Tricks? Ideas?

Well...that's a modification that can be easily done by anyone who can drill a small hole, put a microswitch and solder a couple of wires. :)

But....why disconnect and connect a guitar cable should be an issue?
 
I have an old Telecaster (67) and over the years the jack holder inside got quite loose. I had to open it bend it.. not happy with that I had to go buy a new one and change it, get the soldering iron out, etc. I guess I'm just cautious...

BTW I've looked over the JP15 diagram again and it looks like the battery is also used for the the magnetic pickups.
Q: is it used ONLY when using the extra boost or all the time?

I'd imagine all the time. The buffer is necessary for the piezo pickups, both on their own and to blend with the magnetic pickups.

The mono output blends both pickups, so it's used there. And the stereo output has separate signals for the piezo and mags, but it's necessary there for the piezo.

To the original question- you really shouldn't be worried about a loose output jack. These things are rated for zillions of cycles, and are relatively easy to replace should they wear out.

Well, your JP15 is not a 1967 Telly (lovely guitar, indeed)! :)
I think you have nothing to worry about or that would require to install an ON/OFF switch there: those are quality stereo switches, used as signal input and on/off switch for battery.
They have 2 lugs and are suited to handle many, many, many "insert and disconnect cable" operations.
