OK, so I just bought a JP50 for my son from Guitar Center. They said it didn't come with a gig bag, although they had an old PRS (!) one they let me have.
But their website says it does come with a gig bag!
So who's correct? And how do I get a real one? It could get complicated, due to me being in a different country soon!
Also the action seems a little high. Is there anywhere with instructions on how to adjust it, and what the standard heights are?

Thats wrong. They come with a nicely padded SBMM gig bag.

Go back to the store and ask for the manager and explain what happened and how good of a customer you are and how disappointed you are about the whole situation. I am sure a gig bag will appear and then tell him how the action is too high . I have a feeling he will take care of all your issues on the spot.

This story sounds familiar. I bought another manufacturer's SE and GC told me it didn't come with a gig bag. I knew it came with the bag based on the manufacturer's advertising, but GC said it wasn't included in the price. They'd be happy to sell me one for additional cost. No thanks!

I also purchased a tweed case from them. After haggling over the price because the on-line price was about $40 lower than what they were planning to sell it in a store, I was given a "new" tweed case that obviously had housed a guitar. The guy finally admitted it was a new case but they had taken out the custom shop guitar that had been shipped in it.

I'm not a big fan of GC. I still purchase small items from them, but major purchases are bought elsewhere (either locally or on-line).

Thank you - that's fine. It was $40 less than I was expecting, and the gig bag they 'sold' me was 2 cents
And it suits my nefarious purposes

Now, how to adjust the action?
And don't say take it to GC to do - I'm nowhere near them.

regarding adjusting the action, check the neck relief first. Pressing the low E string down at the first and last frets, check the gap between the bottom of string to the top of the 7th fret. The gap should be pretty small, about the size of a High E string. If the gap is larger than this, adjust the truss rod wheel - using a small screwdriver or the included chrome truss rod adjuster bar, tighten the wheel slightly. recheck and readjust until the gap is closer to the .010 gap.

if the action is still high, then you should asjust the action by the 2 outer posts on the bridge plate. Use a 3mm hex key to bring the base plate of the trem down, a good action spec is 4/64ths of an inch at the last fret - measure from bottom of string to the top of the last fret.
