JP6 & JP7 questions..I live on a mountain..

Hello boys & girls...As you can see from my signature & photo ..I play EBMM Axis's ..I'm wanting to add a guitar loaded with a piezo , and a 7-string guitar to my arsenal..So I'm thinking a JP6 & a JP7 ...Over at a site built specifically for 7-stringer to gather, I've been told that the Petrucci is a little thin from what I'm use to .Is there anybody that has played Axis's in the past , have any insight on these guitars ?Also...does anybody still carry that white glitter JP6 in stock ..I caught a glimpse of that Bad-Boy over at John Petrucci's website ..Thanks ahead of time.

I have an Axis and the JP is the only guitar that EBMM make that I just cannot play due to its thin "shredders" neck...

Some guys out there have both in their collections so it might be just me ;)

I also have a Luke which sort of fits between the two extremes and it fits in my hand really nicely...

It is thinner but I can get used to it thus the reason for ordering the JP. I mostly record as a hobby and all the different guitars I have fill a specific sound I'm looking for. Although the Luke is currently my number one due to its thinner neck, I just used the fatter neck Axis last night and it felt/worked/played great.

I'm definitely more comfortable on the JP neck than any other. It's got a wider string spacing than any of the other EBMM necks talked about in this thread. I don't know why, but it suits me. Of course, some of that is because I'm just used to it. I can adjust to the other necks. The AL neck is great. The Silo neck is great. The Silo Spec is great. The ASS neck is great. I dig the Luke neck also. But still, I'm most at home on the JP. The one that seems to mess me up the most is the Morse for whatever reason.

^^ +1. The JP neck, to me, is extremely comfortable. But I'm very easily adaptable and I love axises (axii?) as well. It depends on how set you are on an axis neck.
By the way, why did you mention that you live on a mountain? =D

I live on a mountain with no access to a EBMM dealer

By the way, why did you mention that you live on a mountain? =D

To answer the question of...Why don't you just go down to the local EBMM dealer...I grew up on Long Island ..I grew up listening to Majesty/Dream Theater at clubs like Sundance etc etc. I lived in L.A down the street from Guitar Center on Sunset...But I now live 2 hours from an EBMM dealership...and 95% of the stock there is SUB's & ASS's ...So this isn't MusicLand in Lindenhurst ..back on the island..that was a small store but had 25+ in stock...So that's why I mention..I live on a Mountain..Because I do..I look over the rockwall..and it stops at a traintrack(abandoned) and next to that is a river ,the access to my house is off a coal road with a truck escape ramp...that's how steep the grade is .This is probably more info then you needed..But it keeps me from answer 2 pages of info as in other forums across the net ;) ;) ;) Thanks for all the help

I hear ya...I kinda looked for a place out of the way in the states .I always remember tour-bus drivers cursing the roads in West Virginia , but in the same sentence stating how beautiful & remote it was...So I moved to West Virginia .It's really a kewl location..because I'm an hour from alot of stuff..2 or 3 at the most .And it has 4-seasons , and nobody knows you unless you tell them who you are in these parts..PRIVACY ..But you have to bring your own everything..I brought alot of gear..strings,picks,drumsticks,drumheads, and extra guitar cords..Don't want to get into the flow of writing & recording ,and then have to go trekking for 3 hours .How's it in Kuwait trying to get strings,picks..you know the extras in an emergency ...Oh...in a bind...WAL-MART does carry GHS Boomers ,and a buttload of Remo & First Act supplies;) ;) and they're open 24-7 ..Once or twice a year I head up to Long Island..have some gear checked on .

So if a JP6 W/Piezo is out..because I'm just not going to dig the neck...How about a Silo. or AL with a hardtail ..maple fretboard and piezo pickup sound ?...and I think I'll have to go with the MM90's ...now to just find a shop on the net that can quote me on one of these two guitars this week ????

I've got a JP6 and a Silo (24 fret version) both with Piezo's...they're awesome. I tend to gravitate more towards the Silo but I do love that JP. I got it from Koogie (on here) and it's really got something to it that some of the other JP's dont..Hunter, if you're up here (Long Island) let me know if you want to peep them sometime.
