I am not so sure it is gold.

If you click on the link below the photo in the original post (GC Platinum) and look at the EBMM offerings (sort highest price to lowest price to get all the JP Koas to appear on page 1), there are as of this writing 16 distict guitars and they all look like they have chrome hardware. If it is a "trick" of the lighting, it is remarkably consistent across many of photos of 16 different guitars. I'm not saying that this cannot be the case, but it seems less likely to me.

I have a Koa Luke w/ gold hardware sitting here next to me, and I researched a lot of photos of Koa EBMMs before my purchase. :) To my eyes, what I see in those GC Platinum photos is not gold. Once again, I may be mistaken. On the other hand, GC has done exclusive special runs of certain models before, so maybe this is a never before seen version ...

I suppose only someone from EBMM or GC -- or a knucklehead who has seen one in the flesh -- can provide the definitive answer.

That sure as hell doesn't look like gold to my eyes. Is something wrong with my eyes? People are saying they think that something is gold, that doesn't look gold. Huh?

+1

When you look at the various photos and angles... My bet is on chrome.

I would prefer the black hardware on this, and the all black LF/CL pups too, but again, personal preference, still a great looking BFR!
