hi

I've come to point where ill have to choose between the JP6 and the JPX.

i have no chance at going to a store and trying them out and see witch i prefer, so I've found them both on the internet for almost the same price.

i mostly play styles from blues to heavy rock and soft clean. almost no sweeping and trash-metal.

what makes me unsure, is that i don't like the black hardware on the JPX. but it still has some cool features like chambering and being a BFR.

So what should i do?

I would recommend the JPX. I've owned both. I like the JPX more. I love the painted neck, the chambered body, the ebony fretboard, and the mahogany tone block. Additionally, the lower horn is thinner and more scooped for easier access to higher frets. That is my pro list for the JPX vs JP6. Aesthetically, it seems you'd find the JP6 more pleasing. You may not like the mahogany tone on the JPX vs the Basswood on the JP6. The JP6 has a deeper arm scoop. The JP6 has a wider variety of paint options, plus you can find one even cheaper that's not fully loaded.

Ultimately, this is your Decision. I recommend getting the JPX if you can get it as the same price as a JP6.

When you do acquire the guitar(s), come back and stay awhile. This is a great forum with awesome people.

Also... post pics! :)

I would get the JPX. Just an amazing player with some seriously sexy looks! I too wish the neck wasn't painted, but it's not sticky at all. The necks on the standard JP's just feel terrific. Good luck!

I sold my JP because of the missing of position 2 and 4 which my other MMs (HH and HSH) have. So I definitly would choose the JPX with the 5-way switch.

Hmm, I'd wait 'till NAMM to ssee what these guys come up with... They may add some colors to the JPXI line, or you may like the JPXII better, who knows... Besides, NAMM is just round the corner.
