I am getting ready to install a set of Duncan Distortion pups in my non piezo jp6. Customer service at SD suggested that I install at set of TB (trembucker) pups rather than an SH (standard humbucker) due to the wider pole spacing on the TB model to compensate for the wider string spacing of the tremolo bridge. I cut out a template of the Distortion TB using the manufacturer's dimensions from the website and it appears that I will have to at least snip the corners of the mounting bracket in order for the TB to fit. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and if they have any good advice? Thank You,

Anthony

If you have a grinder you can just grind the corners off and they should fit just fine. That is what I have done in the past.

Anthony- that was the the third time you've posted the exact same question. Relax and give it time man. This isn't the SD forum so you're only going to get limited responses.

Haha tbh I'd just leave the pups, the pups that JP uses are amazing, but everyone has his own taste.
But remember, even the same pup will sound different in different guitars, so don't mess up your sound!

oops

Sorry about the repetition - I'm on school break and I work full time too so I only have a short amount of time to order the pups and finish my project before I become too busy again. Never used a forum like this before. I like the original pups, but I play different styles that require more versatile pups. I gotta play rhythm and leads in a bass / guitar / drum trio format. Well, thanks for the advice so far!

You may need to be careful of any of the swarf from the grinding/cutting process developing a liking for your magnetic pickups :)

Thanks

Thanks for the comment about the swarf. I'll probably remove the bracket for any mods I'll make. Also, anyone every measure the width of the pickup cavity routed into the body w/ a caliper? The TB is measured at 2.780" wide so a correct measurement could save some time for me.

Thanks

Anthony
