My JP6 was set-up like a dream from the factory. When my band decided to try half-step down tuning I found myself having to modifiy the factory set-up. My issue became learning the nuances of the JP6 and specifically string feel/resistance (10-46 gauge slinky's).

We eventually went back to 440 and I have been forever since adjusting saddle height/radius, bridge height, spring tension to get back to the feel of the factory set-up.

The set-up instructions on the FAQ for the JP6 are ok but vague in this respect. One thing I have learned is increase in saddle height = reduced string resistance to the touch.

Any other JP6 owners with words of wisdom or saddle height/radius specs from the factory?

ideally you shouldn't have to touch the saddles when you first tuned down. just adjust the springs to match the lower tension fo the lowered tuning.

truss rod adjust also. saddles set from the factory match the radius of the fretboard. any increases in height should be from the 2 posts or truss rod.

Agreed, but what I found was a change in string feel with simply adjusting the spring tension. The wound strings were a little flubby and lost some detail.

As a result I lowered the saddle heights which did increase the resistance to the strings across the board. My error was making adjustments without recording initial set-up specifics.

Hello BP!

Are your factory setup specifics available? That would really help.

this is well stated as always.

My set up half step down may differ from yours as well as the millions of others out here. Take it to a tech you trust to set it up to how you want it. Ineternet advice is very hit and miss. Without the guitar in my hands... How could I possibly know what you are after? I can't and won't tell you what to do.

My Internet doc thinks I am insane... I just think he is crazy! See what I'm saying? ;)
