Hey all, I've done a search to try to get me going in the right direction with my JP 6 setup. It seems she's a little out of wack. I think I need to start with making sure that the saddles are set correctly with the radius of the neck, which I dont think it is.

Does anyone have a guage or measurement they use to set the string height properly???

Also I need to make sure it's got the proper truss rod adjustment, I seem to be getting a lot of buzzing from the 9th fret to 23rd......24th is perfect lol.

Basically I need help to get my MM setup properly from scratch, if anyone has any photo's they would be willing to share, String height #'s for the radius, and to check for proper truss rod adjustment ect. I would be extremely greatful........I'm dying to get her setup right and I just don't feel I can do this for the first time without someone with more experience guiding me along.

If there's anything I can add to this please let me know, and thank you so much to anyone who can help me out with this, I owe you big time!!!!!!

Please help

http://projectguitar.com/tut/tutorial1.htm Here is a good site to learn alittle bit about set up.
I used to be ignorant and afraid to do it myself but now thanks to info I've found here all my guitars are playing perfectly and I am able to do routine adjustments as required.

I am in the process of aquiring several JP guitars - they are awesome!

Did you get this new? Just so you know, jonguitarz once posted that JP likes his action so low that it does in fact buzz. It does on my JP but doesn't come through the amp. That's the factory setup on them.

Get a 6 inch steel rule. Measure string height at the 12th fret and keep the height consistant across the fretboard. The radius will take care of itself.

If you are getting some buzzing above the 12th fret, tighten the truss rod(clockwise) and then you may have to raise the saddles to compensate for the truss rod adjustment. Don't worry too much about what JP or anyone else has their string height at. Adjust it so it feels right to you, then take measurments and write them down for future reference.

Jp's strings do buzz acoustically, but so do most electric guitars with low action.

wow thats cool that even JP gets buzz, i guess its a trade off, so long as the buzz dont come through the amp your'e ok!

Exactly. If you are heavy handed, you would need the action higher. If you have a light touch you can get away with lower action. If you are JP, you can play a note 3 bars before your guitar knows its been played, and it still sounds awesome.

For another new forum member, I just went and eyeballed my saddles:

Low E - approx. 2.5 mm

D - approx. 4 mm

And they are radiused pretty much accordingly.

I hope this helps.
