Can anyone confirm what I seem to be hearing? I have had this for quite sometime now. It seems my JP6 BFR sounds best (not discussing piezo) when plugging into the stereo jack (using mono cable). when I use the other input jack meant for mono mags my sound turns very 'nasally'; much like when you turn the tone pot down. is this normal? or because the signal gets some kind of buffering in the stereo jack it just 'enhances' the sound to my ears? perhaps the JP6 is just nasally sounding (Crunchlab/liquifire)...thoughts?

yes, this is not only with the BFR, it´s with every JP i own(ed).
i always use the stereo output - even by only using the mag. pups e.g. for recordings.
but i don´t think the stereojack is a buffered signal, instead i would say the mono-singal jack is running thru a active electronic, which seems more realistic to me, because you have both signals at the mono-out jack. i believe they adjust the mag.pups to match the level of the piezo at the mono jack and because of that, the mono-out doesn´t sound as "opened" and "clear" as the stereo out.
and one more fact for using the stereo-out for better sounding mag.pups:
while using two mono cables (one for mag., one for piezo) the mag.pups come from the stereo jack.

ah so I'm not imagining things! Good to know there isn't something wrong with the electronics on my guitar. I pretty much always use the stereo jack too even if I don't plan on using the piezo. I am thinking of buying a stereo cable (right angle end) that splits to 2 mono. and have both mono ends running into my axe fx.

I use piezo on all my Axis Supersports, my original Petrucci, and my Silo Special...I have 2 guitar cables in a loom, DiMarzio made me one that has angled plugs the guitar end, and straight plugs the other end...i always send the piezo seperatly to an EB volume pedal, so i can blend it over electric sounds whilst performing, and into a Di box straight to the PA..I prefer the tone of the Piezo that way...I have just put an LR Bagg's venue Di in my rack just for my piezo, and will be using that on my tour in May with Brian May...try it guys...its a great unit...plus I find the tone is better that way..i have been using the double cable since i got my first Supersport 11 years ago...I am excited about this piezo preamp...it also have effects built in!!..Jamie Humphries

I love using the Piezo on my Al & JP 6

Heres an older thread on it and I have a demo on youtube

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/mus...ew-ernie-ball-6165-pedal-turned-up-today.html

Just to confirm my set up
Stereo cable out - EB 6165 Pedal- Piezo into my AER 60 acoustic amp which gets fed into the PA and the mags go to my tube amp.
The 6165 pedal gives you great control and I'm really happy with this set up.
