I have one of the older barebones jp7s with the custom dimarzio's. Everything seems and sounds fine except for playing tighter stuff, or "djent". It feedsback just enough to be annoying and I can't seem to really adjust the pickup height. I also ab'ed it with my friend's jpxi to make sure it wasn't just how I have my axe-fx patches gated. Do you guys have any suggestions?

There are a few things that can cause feedback so it can be tough to figure out sometimes. I was getting some microphonic feedback a few years ago on a guitar and it was the pickup. It needed to be re-dipped in wax to get rid of it so I just said screw that and put a new pickup in it. I believe the process is called "potting" the pickups and it is usually done by dipping the coils in wax or wrapping them in tape. Pickup height can certainly make some feedback problems and I thought you could adjust the pickup height on all the JPMM guitars, but I'm not certain, maybe some of them have mounted pickups? It sometimes is just where you're standing or sitting when you play, or even the room you are in, or it can be that you have too much gain on the amp. Will take some experimenting to figure it out possibly. Good luck.

Is it actual squealing pig-stuck-under-a-fence feedback or just a funny tone or harmonic?

Had the same exact issue with my JPXI-7. Trem angle was off by a tadd, made it perfect through a setup. Lubed the nut up and viola! No more feedback or trem spring issue.

Said before and say it again......these JP's are like high perf cars, got to have the setup tight and they will kiss you all night.

BTW - I am going through a 5150 3 and dimed the gain on the red channel to test and still not feedback or trem spring noise:)
