Hi everyone,

I'm a new member here, although I've been browsing these pages for a while now.
I also am a proud owner of 2 petrucci's.
The 2nd one I just got recently, it's a used one.
It's a JP7 pearl red-burst with piezo and painted headstock, I think it's an older model because the guitar doesn't have the compensated nut.
I love my EBMM's to death, they play great and sound awesome!

Anyway, I've encountered some problems, and I hope you guys can help me out here.
I have contacted customer support but haven't yet got a reply and because of the guitar being second hand and in Holland I don't what to do.
Anyway, here's there problem.

There is a kind of white noise/hiss/crackling sound coming form my piezo.
I've only tried the mono input because I don't have any stereo cables.
And ofcourse this sound is only noticable when the piezo is switched on.
Also when I strum chords on the guitar a bit louder the sound also seems affected.
I have tried changing the battery... didn't help.
When I turn the piezo volume down with the normal piezo volume control the sound dissapears.

I've read somewhere on the internet that this might be a grounding problem inside the guitar?
I don't know if it could have to do with the gear I use because the pod isn't grounded (i've also tried it directly to the wall), I only use one output and the magnetic pick-ups seem fine....
I also think the problem lies pre-eq because when I adjust the eq settings the hiss sound also changes.

How can I determine what the problem is?
How and where would I be able to see if the piezo is properly grounded?

Maybe if the solution is simple and I can (temporarily) fix the guitar my self.

I would love to just play the guitar and not worry about things so any advice would be awesome!

Thanks!

Yep, that's me.
I made a good deal.
The guitar was soooo badly set-up, so I had to work on getting the action just right.
It's perfect now, except for the piezo trouble...I'd love to get it to work properly

Yeah, I really could use some help here.
The strange thing is, the guitar looks like it's brand new, so it has not been used a lot...
If someone knows what the problem might be, please let me know.
I can go to the guitar repairer tomorrow to maybe get it fixed, but a hint to where the problem comes from would come in handy!
I then might be able to fix the problem myself...
Thanks!

Guitartwine,

I posted the same issue with my Axis under "Axis MM90 Piezo - Volume Off BUT Still Can Hear Through Amp". Not sure what issue is, but searching.

Let me know if you hear anything please.
