Hey, I'm new here..... so this is me introducing myself :D

I have my eyes set on a JP7. I played a JP6 and thought it was beautiful, but I want a 7 string. I've never seen or played one, but if it's anything like the JP6, I'll definitely pay.

But what I want to know is - how much do each of the configurations go for new?

ie- lowest priced model, w/ piezo, w/ special JP inlays, etc etc.

You probably don't have to factor in the cost of the special paint jobs - I think Mystic Dream is really cool, but $400 extra? I think not...

I'm currently deciding between it and a Carvin DC727... this would proabbly be the wrong place to ask which is better, there just might be some bias

Thanks for your time/help.

I bought my JP7 loaded from Pete (DuBaldo) this past May. I think he gave me a hell of a deal.

MSRP is fine. Street prices are not. Again, contact a dealer for a price quote.

In my time here, this is the first time that I've ever seen a newbie ask for opinions on a comparison of an EBMM to another brand of guitar AND realize that there will be bias here. Most of the time, posters are taken aback by the strong bias in favor of EBMMs that is present in this forum. It mystifies me that they don't understand the bias.

codyyn,

I have a Carvin DC 727; I haven't played a JP7 so I can't compare it to that, but the necks on my ebmm's (I have a couple of steve morse models) are nicer than the carvin.

The Carvin is a nice guitar, and I've played carvins for over 20 years (I had a V220 in the 80's and I still have my old DC 200 koa) but to my way of thinking, ebmm is really a cut above; ideally you'd be able to try both out and decide for yourself- but I really think the JP7 is the better way to go.
