Both my JP6 and my Y2D have tremolos, but neither is lacking in sustain. On the contrary, they sustain better than any other guitars I've owned, from hardtail Les Pauls to Ibby superstrats.

I guess my mileage just varies a bit. That was actually the first thing I noticed about each of my EBMMs after playing them for the 1st time.. the sustain was remarkable.

Imagine a EBMM without tremolo. :D

On the other hand, there is a big difference between floating tremolos an non floating tremolos.
when the trem is set up to rest on the body, it behaves quite more like a fixed bridge; it is fixed an though cannot vibrate.

when you have a floating trem (usual set up for floyd rose like trems), the trem vibrates as soon as you pick a string. And that's what makes you lose sustain.

anyhow I have never felt needing more sustain, even with floating trems.
It's more a theoretical point of view. ;)
