JPX 6 - Massive Tuning Issues with Tremel-No

I've installed a Tremel-No to facilitate drop D tuning.

After struggling with tuning issues and trying to adjust this unit, I released all the thumb screws and let it move freely.

I am still having no luck with tuning stability.

Any bends over a whole step or full bar usage results in complete retuning.

Are my springs out of whack?

One thing that just occurred to me is that the trem claw might not be quite aligned. It needs to be perfectly parallel with the trem block. Otherwise it's likely to bind and cause tuning issues. When I've set 'em up, first I'd dive the bar and return, trying to feel for any binding. After that, in a quiet room, I'll work the trem and listen for any rubbing.

Dr Kev disagrees with the physics behind this, but just to say that you can have the trem claw angled if you so wish.
I do however agree with the concept that a trem claw may not return to it's initial resting state and I did a mod to help with this. see thread at

I'm not gonna debate the validity of Verheyen's setup but it won't work with the Tremol-No. If you angle the claw, the Tremol-No will be more likely to bind and that's definitely not desirable.

Cold is not a problem. An aircraft's fuselage is well insulated (it doesn't cool in a hurry) and if the hold on a particular aircraft is not heated, they are often ventilated by the same air that the cabin uses, the temperature doesn't drop very low. It can get chilly down there but as my pilot brother says "only about as cold as a warm fridge". I can't think of any traveller who picked up their luggage after a long haul flight to find, for example, their toiletries frozen. When I pick up my luggage after a flight, I've never said "gee, my bag feels really cold!". Shipping a guitar (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx) during the cold of winter WILL expose a guitar to far greater temperature extremes than flying does.

Yeah, the tutorial videos from All Parts/Tremol-No say that the Tremol-No claw must be absolutely parallel and even in order to glide smoothly and counteract the pull of the springs.
