I got this JPX-7 a few weeks ago, and it had a ding on the headstock. It's quite small, but down to the wood.
A friend of mine who's got the largest collection of nail polish I've ever seen, and all of them purple, happened to have the shade which matched Barolo blue the closest. So I put a little dab on it, and done.

I dropped off the guitar to GC for their tech to look over (being a tech is how I made money to help my university days... nowadays there's just so little time to devote to guitars :( ), and he said he'd be able to polish the spot where I applied the nail polish, so that it'd look better.

Unfortunately, he messed it up. There are two super glue streaks on the headstock where it seeped through the tape (he was using it to seal the patch, but it also dissolved the nail polish...). He explained the situation, and there's no hard feelings. Stuff happens.

He's left it with a guy who specializes in finish, and he got back to me today: the finish guy suggests we refinish the WHOLE headstock (goodbye logo) or the portion of the headstock with the wound.

I am totally against that. The guitar was in incredible condition. I just want those damn glue marks gone.
I mentioned that if he got me the guitar in the same condition as I left it with him, or even if the ding was still there, that'd be ok, but that it got bad enough.

Am I SOL? Can glue marks be polished off finish? What would you guys do in this situation?

Thanks. We'll see... Worse that happens, I guess, is to strip down just on the glue marks and match the paint.
Hopefully the second part here is doable and it won't show too much...

Barolo is GORGEOUS. I wish more models came with it.

Oh god, a real bummer. Really hope it turns out ok for you. For me the big question would be, having both the guitar in person and the nail polish color... Can the guy match the paint? If he can accurately match it (and I know the guy is skillful) I'd have the headstock refinished (unless of course the portion with the wound can be refinished without it being noticeable). After all, the logo can be found on the internet, so you could have it printed onto some adhesive material and then have the guy apply the clear coats after the adhesive logo is fitted to the headstock.
Barolo is such a beautiful color... I wonder why it never took off, I mean, why they limited it just to the JPX... Been gassing for a Barolo Majesty pretty much since it came out... Hint hint BP ;)
