After a few weeks of deliberation I've set my heart on grabbing a JPX-6 in the next couple of weeks. However, as there isn't anywhere within a few hundred miles of here that I can play one, I'll be buying it blind. The only slight concern I have is the finished neck, I've literally not touched a guitar with a painted neck in about 5 years. I can't imagine that any guitar of this quality will have a sticky feeling neck, but I'd love some input from JPX-6/7 owners.

Regards,

Ali

Don't worry about the finish. I just got a JP 12-7 and it not sticky at all. If you sweat, it might build up after a while of playing, but just wipe it down before and after you play.

I also play an Ibanez with an unpainted neck and the transition to the painted EBMM neck was easy.

I switch back and forth with my BFR/JPX/JP6 - not an issue at all.

The finished neck on JPX is great and is not sticky. However the neck is bigger than the JP6 and JP6 BFR ones. In my experience the JP6 has the thinnest neck, it is really skinny and it's the thinnest neck I ever touched. JP6 BFR’s is bigger but it's still skinny and very comfortable. The JPX's neck is the largest.

The JPX, BFR and JP6 necks all have the exact same profile and thickness. The only difference is the JPXI and JP12 which have a thinner neck and flatter radius. Don't worry about the finish at all. EBMM has the slickest finished neck I have ever touched. My JPX and JPXI never get sticky in the slightest bit.

Maybe JPX's neck feels bigger to me because of the Jumbo and wide frets but I really feel a difference. At least the JP6 really feels skinny. My hand never touches the back of the neck. I needed some time to get used to this particular neck which was not the case for the JP6 BFR. Possible the finish on the JP6 BFR and JPX is adding some thickness to the neck.

The finish could add some thickness, but I don't notice a difference in thickness from my JPX to my JP6. The JPXI feels thinner for sure.
