Hey folks, new to the forum, and the EB. Got a JP6 in red a few months back, traded it in on a JPX last week and I have a JP6 Koa arriving any day. Though I like the 5 way switch on the JPX, I get more noise when I select either humbucker by itself. Something wired funny? Missing a ground wire? I tried a set of sheptone pups in there(after swapping the bases to dimarzio bases) and I get the same thing, so I can't blame the pups, though I do like the tone better. Anyone else have a noisey JPX? I dont play super high gain and my plethora of other guitars don't make this noise through either of my rigs.

There will always be some noise. Most HBs aren't perfectly matched and your electronics, cable, etc. are always going to impart something when you have the gain totally cranked. Have you tried another guitar through the same rig as a comparison? All stuff to consider ... but yeah, talk to CS and they can help you out.

Lots of stuff can cause noise. Every guitar is different. Try your rig in another room, away from electronics like computers, TV, light dimmers, etc.

Unless you're using a ton of gain or playing near a TV thats on, computer screen, fluorescent lights, etc. you shouldn't have a lot of noise when you go to either humbucker. The whole point of humbuckers is for them to cancel hum. Try using you rig in a different room away from tv's, computers that are on, etc. and see if that helps. If not, its possible that a wire is loose or you may possibly have a bad solder joint or something along those lines.

Tried three rigs in different locations-two different houses. Also multiple guitars. The noise gate in the AXE-FX normally blocks out the junk in the room-at any gain level, but not with this one guitar. As mentioned, I don't use a lot of gain, and trying to use less since the ADAT tells me a little goes a long way. Quiet as a mouse in the other positions, which is pretty much the reverse of what I would expect. I also ruled out the pups by swapping them to a known good set. I wire the pup to the jack-all good. I was just looking for a no brainer common issue that might have been noted on the boards, like a missing ground wire somewhere. 5 way switches give me a headache, but I'll mess with it this weekend and get it useable.

Forums and three letter searches don't agree with each other, and the two things I am most interested in, JPX and KOA, don't search well! Thanks anyway.

YOu know you answered your question No forum can agree. This is my problem with seeking internet diagnosis....I dont believe that anyone shoud give or take advice without seeing the guitar. Please contact customer service...you have modified it and probably something screwy happened

Not saying that this is necessarily your problem, but grounding can be wicked important. The church I play in has one input that always has noise problems. If I run wireless, I eliminate the problem. If I go to another snake/input, I can go in direct with no noise whatsoever. I'm using a Line 6 X1 digital wireless system.
