I have a question about Changing the strings on my JPX. The website I purchased the JPX from said it came stock with 9's. Here on the EBMM website it says 10's Which strings do you use at the factory to string up your guitars?. I went ahead and re-strung it with 10's and my tremolo is all jacked up. I know I could just do a spring adjustment and be fine but I dont want to do that if it came with 9's. I will also admit that in my 30 years of playing that I have only owned Floyd Rose systems, did I possibly miss a step re-stringing with locking tuners? One last question,My JPX doesnt have BFR on the neck plate, anyone know why? I purchased it mid April this year. Thanks

Adjust your springs, if you own a guitar with a floating trem you're going to have to do that eventually. Prime time to start.

Also kind of strange you don't have a BFR neck plate anymore
This is actually my first string change for this guitar,if I have to make a spring adjustment with every string change that is a major problem. Ideally I'm hoping one of the two websites misquoted the string gauge. I just need to know the spring gauge the guitar was shipped with and I'll be fine.

It was possible it came with 9s. JP fairly recently changed back to 10s…which means EBMM changed its guitars to 10s as well. My JP12 came with 9s because that is what he was using at the time. If yours did come with 9s and you put 10s on, you need to adjust springs as suggested…. just like a floyd rose… and get the bridge level with the body. Or you could go back to 9s if you prefer.

As far as the logo, EBMM switched from the 12th fret logo to a BFR neck plate on the back of the guitar last year. It is still a BFR. Im sure someone will post a link to the numerous threads about this, but I am too lazy. :)

No you misunderstood. You must adjust your springs whenever you change tuning/string gauge which you seem to have done. There is no way to properly tell what gauge it came with as JP switches whenever he wants to his preference and you may have bought the guitar when he was with either or.

If your trem is tilting upwards you put heavier strings than it came with. If it's tilting downwards into the trem cavity, you put strings lighter than what it came with.

And no setup/maintenance isn't a major problem, it's part of owning an instrument lol.

Easiest solution is to either buy a set of 9's and see if it reverts back to it's proper position, or pay someone for a setup and have them adjust the springs.
