Question JPX - trem springs

On my JPX - I use 9.5-44 gauge strings. I have the trem set up with 3 springs in a straight line. The bridge plate is exactly parallel to the top of the guitar from front to back.

Comparing it to my other EBMM guitars (which all have 3 springs except my JP6), it feels much stiffer.

I tried removing one spring and installing the 2 springs in a V (like I did with my JP6) however, I had to tighten the claw as far as it would go, to the point of virtually being against the cavity wall, and the bridge still was leaving forward and not parallel to body.

Any recommendations for loosening this up any? The guitar is seldom played, maybe it would loosen with time?

I would look at getting a set of springs with more tension in them, they make springs with more tension and noiseless springs as well that you can use to counteract that.

It won't loosen up over time sadly so I think that's the only option you have right now if you want to use 2 springs with those strings.

My newest JP6 came with 9's and 2 springs in the angled position and it is screwed in pretty tight, so I know what you mean. It flutters so much, but I'm more comfortable with 10's and a 3 spring setup myself so I'll be reverting it to that.
 
Noiseless springs are so awesome and I find them especially useful when playing in a situation where the volume is cranked. Floyd Upgrades is a cool company. Just make sure you file the coating off the spots where the springs hook onto the bridge block as well as the claw. You may have some serious grounding issues if you don't. I know I did on a few different guitars. They make some stiffer springs for guitars that are tuned down so those are an option for you.
 
Yea I run Floyd Upgrade springs on all my trem guitars. As well as the trem stopper, it makes setups so much easier.
