Hey guys I just recently got this baby and I am wondering if there is any specific routine I must use to change tuning (example:going from standard E to drop D)? The reason I am asking this is because the tremelo plate is out of flush with the guitar; at the moment I'm in drop D tuning and the plate is going towards the back. The tuners are Schaller m6-ind and they have a locking system in each and every string. Do I unwind these tuners and then tune up/down then lock them back in? I was told this guitar is not a Floyd Rose and it's not, but please don't tell me I have to go through the same process as you do with a Floyd Rose when it comes to changing the tuning (adjusting the spring tension).

Sorry Hugo, but mother nature won't let you do it any other way. That's physics!

Don't open the lock on the tuners unless you are changing strings! It'll only release the strings and they are pain to put back in. We need to balance tensions on both side of the bridge - strings are one side, springs are the other. You can't change tuning without adjusting the springs.

FWIW, it's easier than a Floyd (because the Floyd is often super sensitive) but yes, you have to take the back off and adjust the springs. In this case, release the springs, unscrewing the screws. Re-tune, check the bridge plate, re-adjust as necessary until you're happy.

It is a pain if you change tunings regularly, you could maybe look into installing Tremol-no or something similar.

Good luck and welcome to the forum family!!

Thanks so much Kev you've been a great help! Yea I figured I'd have to go through the process, darn mother nature haha. But it is worth it in the end the JPX is the sexiest and best guitar out there IMO :p I'll just keep in standard for now, again thanks take care! And a pleasure to be in the family.
