I've had my JPXI for a few months now and I've been going through 9v batteries like it's my job. I usually leave the cable attached while in its stand, but I never leave the cable plugged into the piezo output, always the magnetic output. I also make sure the 3 way toggle is set to magnetic only after done playing.

I've found a brand new battery seems to only last for about 2 weeks, but I actually only use the piezo out for maybe 1 hour a week. Is there something I'm missing here???

The magnetic output can combine piezo and magnetic, right? For that to happen, the battery has to be on. I think you would have to leave the cord out of the guitar to turn it off.

Yup, even if it's plugged into the magnetic jack, the battery is engaged. If you take out the battery, you'll notice that no sound will be made regardless of the jack. Nothing wrong with the guitar- just make sure that baby is unplugged when not in use! :)

This is a good question... we're getting to the answer now as the mag jack does work with no battery... be back in a moment...

Per Dudley, yes, both jacks draw from the battery when plugged in.

Try completely unplugging the guitar. If the problem persists shoot me an email at [email protected]. We'll get you squared away. Thanks for playing Music Man!
