Hi, folks. I'm a brand new Music Man owner. I bought a JPXII 7 string guitar last month. Love it to death!

Unfortunately, the piezo system decided to stop working for me. After I discussed it with A.J. in customer service (Nice guy!) I took it to a Guitar Center in Dallas (I bought it in Austin) and the guys there are going to evaluate it over the weekend, and put in a call to the company for me, regarding what needs to be done.

One of the guys said that sometimes it might take up to 3 months for it to return, if I decide to ship it back! Does anyone here know if that is, in fact, a good estimate? The guitar that was in stock, that I could trade for, is in nowhere near as good condition as mine is in.
That's scary!

Should I just ask for another one from the factory?
Any idea how long that might take, if I choose that route?

I guess I'm rambling at this point...it's been a long week...

You're still covered under warranty. I'm surprised AJ didn't tell you to send it in. Follow up with AJ.

Yes, I plan to call him Monday, too. The initial plan was to see if anything could be done, then possibly just trade them out at the GC, if not.
Just kind of bummed about it.

After some research, I think if mine has to go back to MM, that I wil ask if I can upgrade to the BFR JP 7 string with a trans black quilt top. I like the 20" radius, but can probably make do with the 15"...

Wow, cool!
That's great news. I feel better about it this morning. I appreciate a direct reply. That's impressive!

I'm definitely wanting to keep mine, if there is a possibility of just changing out whatever part/s are necessary. Is that even possible?

Like BP said they turn them around quick. If you just have a piezo issue why wouldn't it be fixable? They will repair or replace whatever the issue is and send it back.

Update: AJ rocks, and my JPXII will be on it's way to Music Man tomorrow!

3 months, from my experience, is wrong. For me, both times I had to send it in, it took about 3 weeks from the time UPS picked it up to the time UPS dropped it back off. I'm in Chicago, so it takes 3-4 days to get to MM, then probably a week for them to work on it (I had a few things that needed work, plus they took care of things that they saw) and another 3-4 to ship it back. It was well worth the wait.

Update:
UPS brought my guitar back to me a day earlier than expected. Good (or better) than new!
I'm very pleased with the whole thing, except, of course, having to send it back in the first place...
The customer service, and the turn around time are excellent. Actually, far better than most of the brands I have used in the past 32 years! I'm pretty sure my next new instrument will be another Music Man...and those stealth Bongo 6HS unlined fretless basses I've seen out there are hot!
