Hey all, to go with my fantastic LUKE.. I have just put a deposit on Dave's CAE OD100... I just love the sound that Luke gets and hopefully this will go some way to getting in that ballpark tonewise... next years gonna be great...:)

Great buy man, you won't regret it, l just recently bought a CAE 3+se preamp and a VHT 2/50/2 poweramp, they are great amps by far.

afaik are those bradshaw amps SLO-ish clones.

First of all they're not Bradshaw amps. They're not CAE, they're CAA...they're designed by John Suhr. Suhr manufactures them as part of JS Technologies but still leaves the name plates the same since thats what people know it as. Definitely not an SLO clone...you're of base there. Picture a Fender blackface type clean channel with a Marshally dirty channel. Just what type of marshally you get is dependent on the revision you get. The SE version has voicing closer to the 3+ SE, the Classic is less gainy...

Here's the whole spec sheet for all current revisions:

waaay back about 7years ago, I worked in a studio with the original OD100. Back then it was Bradshaw's show. Suhr helped design it but it was CAE that did everything from build to support. Which may explain why it didn't really take off then. The new or "reissue", as I understand is all John's show.

Probably one of the most versatile and responsive amps there is. Does almost everything 99% really really well, but it's not cheap and the versatility has it's price.....you spend days tweaking the knobs! Definitely not an amp for the impatient or if need just one or two tones out of your gear.

It's not that it didn't take off back then...many of the studio cats and guys like Scott Henderson were using them...they just didn't make alot of them. When they say helped design, it was pretty much John's design...and Bob's tag. Hence why he could take them and make them on his own.

It almost sounds like a Rivera design. Best of Fender and Marshall under one roof.

Great explanation by OC - they really are great amps, I've played a couple. Suhr knows what he's doing for sure!

When I bought my Guytron, I was torn between it and one of the OD-100s. The Guy is similar in some ways, the clean is awsome and the gain channel is killer. (Some of the OD-100s have more gain on tap, though). In the end I went with the Guy as it has a separate poweramp section before the main power section so you can get poweramp distortion at low volumes- truly a unique and incredibly usable master volume.

But it was close, the OD fully rocks.
