Having joined the EBMM owners club earlier this year with my purchase of a wonderful Luke, a few weeks back I bought an amber hardtail Axis (thanks to fellow forumite spkirby - top bloke!).
I'd never played an Axis before and can't believe how great this guitar is, a fine complement to my Luke. Having played a couple of Fender Custom Shop Strats for a few years now the quality, build and sound of my pair of EBMM's is right up there, and considering these are regular 'production' guitars it's really quite staggering. I wish I'd tried these guitars years ago.
Before I got the Axis I assumed it would 'just' be a rock machine, but despite the limited controls I've found there to be a fantastic range of tones in there, rolling off the volume and using each of the pickup combinations brings out great cleans, breakup tones as well as full-on high gain stuff. And the neck seems to make it so easy to play.
Well I'm truly hooked now, and eyeing the rest of the range. Wondering what an ASS, Silo and Petrucci would be like...
