Yeah, I was planning on getting some EB Strap Locks and a new strap. I have a 2 in. nylon Cliplock on my Strat, but I don't really like it too much. I don't really dig nylon that much either. I'm probably going to go with a cotton strap.

Cool dude, nice that you have your parent's support. I remember when I was 18, my parents surprised me with my first real guitar for my birthday. I was really happy. But that was a middle of the road model Stratocaster - you have a JP!

I HIGHLY recommend the cotton cliplock straps. The nylon is terrible IMO. The cotton helps keep the guitar in place because it almost grips your shirt. The nylon slid around like crazy! I also like the end on the cotton straps better. They've got a rounded plastic piece that connects to the strap button screw whereas the nylon is just a square end. Check 'em out.

Take my tip and get a good leather strap. I still have my first one which I bought almost 40 years ago.

Last night, my dad said he hurt his back at work, so he needed me to help him with the new entertainment center for our fairly new TV. Later on, he seems to be struggling with a box, and tells me to help him. We go into the living room, and he says, "Ok, I'll hold the box, and you reach in and pull." So I put my hands in the box, and realized that it wasn't wood in there. I pulled out about a quarter of the guitar case and flipped out in my head. It was completely unexpected. It took me a few seconds for my brain to compute what was going on. I had just pulled out the case of my very own fully loaded Graphite Pearl JP6.

Congratulations on getting what would most likely be the best guitar you'll ever own, and congratulations on having such great parents!!!

I had no idea they were getting this for me. They knew which one I wanted because I never shut up about it Here and there, they would ask me little questions about the guitar, so...yeah. I'll try to post pics somehow, I almost promise.

LOVE Graphite Pearl. I thumped on a SR5HH in graphite pearl for a while. Amazing bass, amazing color, and tone that emberassing adolescent dreams are made of.

Update: Played through my dad's Bassman and Traynor cab with the MT-2. WOW. The clean sounds great, the distorted rhythm sounds awesome, and the leads are great as well using the neck pickup and lots of delay. Then when you turn the Chorus on, it just sounds like a sea of tone, if you know what I mean. It's like a cross between Alex Lifeson and John Petrucci. Then when I started rocking out with heavy Dream Theater licks and Rush songs, I couldn't believe it. I love the feel of the neck and body, and the pups are amazing! The bridge is extremely comfortable and I love how it floats. It stays in tune almost perfectly. The strings are kinda old though, even though they have only had a few hours of play, so when I change them, they'll probably stay in tune better.
