Well, I finally did it. A few months back at GC I played a Stingray and knew I had to have one. After much searching I found one online that I thought would make me happy. The only problem is that I finally have it, but I am nowhere near home to enjoy it. Oh well, I will be back soon enough to have some fun. Anyway, its a Lava Pearl 4H. This is my first picture posted on here so I hope I did it right.

Dig that finish, the matching headstock is a nice touch.
Play it and have fun!
And then let's talk about Bongos.

congrats!

let me tell you something about the Stingray - it shines in band context like nothing else.

I'm a real PBass aficionado, or at least I was. decided I needed some variety so instead of my mainstay '00 2EQ Stingray I brought one of my Precisions to band practice...I was terribly let down. I think it threw the whole band off as the P just went head to head with the Marshall half stack of one of the guitarists to create a mudslide of low end rattle plus I could barely hear anything I played above the 5th fret on the A string...
since then I'm sticking with my Ray, it works on any rig, I can cop any imaginable tone with the on board pre, a solid state amp and a Bass VT pedal and I get all the articulation, punch, grind etc. I would ever want out of that setup.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I can't wait to get my hands on this bass. Anyone can have their opinions, but love it or hate it, there is definitely nothing like the sound of these bass'. I for one just love the sound of a stingray. Now I just need a more appropriate amp to play it through.
As for the bongo, I honestly had not heard of them until I was shopping for a Stingray. I will have to test one out since they have such a loyal following. Just curious, what are the major differences between a stingray and a bongo... or should this be a new thread?

The Bongo had just been released in 2003 when i was still hunting down my first Stingray so the Bongo in my mind back then just wasn't an option until id got my hands on a Stingray, you can hear a Stingray in a mix a mile away, its an instantly recognizable sound that can be heard in the dark, nothing sounds quite like it. (the same goes for the Bongo).

The Bongo...... thats a completely different animal, my first impression of it was clouded at the time because i was tunnel visioned to wards the Stingray (kind of still am, not that thats a bad thing :p ) but after seeing a few up close, playing a few (and spending to much time on here) the GAS is well and truly set in for one!

You cant get a Stingray out of a Bongo, and you cant get a Bongo out of a Stingray.
There both beautiful basses in there own iconic way ! :)

you'll just have to get your hands on one and experience it for yourself... it's pretty tough to explain with words, other than "wow!"

STINGRAY and it's new!

I feel the most important thing about any bass is how it sounds played live with a band. That's how I judge all my basses. Even if it's hard to play and it sounds great live--I go for it.

My Sterling sounds great live and I'll be using my new Stingray this Friday night ( got rained out last week). I'm thinking the Ray is not going to let me down.

Congrats on the killer new bass.:D

Thats awesome...I've still got at least 10 weeks to wait until mine arrives.

I was watching some festival footage on TV the other day and lost count how many artists with 'proper' backing bands used a Stingray. That alone is a great testimony to these instruments.
