Hi everyone,

Having today just dipped my toe in to the EBMM pond with my very first Stingray, I thought I would join the EB forum and say howdy! My first EBMM is a bit of an oddity what with the confederate flag painted on the body and no pickguard! The pickup route strikes me as a bit odd but hopefully you EBMM experts can tell me if i've bought a lemon or not.
Serial number is B010517 - not listed on musicman.global...
thanks in advance for any help/info :)

**update** I was just taking the bass apart to give it a good clean and some TLC and have found that the neck is from Nov 1989 - see attached new photo. Would be keen to here y'all thoughts on this bass.

Welcome to the Forum.

Looks like your Bass started out as a circa 1978 Pre-EB Sting Ray but (for whatever reason) the original neck has been replaced with an EBMM Sting Ray neck. The G string tuner is Pre-EB and probably came from the original neck, but I can't make out if the other tuners are also Pre-EB. There's White paint around the edge of the neck pocket & that's probably the original colour (no Red option that early). The pickup routing is normal for that Pre-EB period.

The main thing is that It obviously plays well. Congrats (y)

Is that a micro-tilt screw on the neck?
.
The substitute 1989 EB neck has been modified with a plate for the micro tilt screw to rest on during adjustment, as it would with an original Pre-EB neck.

P.S. As an afterthought, the plate itself may have been made to screw in and out to adjust the neck angle rather than the tilt screw at the rear of the neck pocket. That may explain the slit across the face of the plate?

thank you so much for all the info! I gave the bass and all the hardware a bit of a clean and can confirm that all of the tuners are the same so all pre-EB. Just need to dial in the setup now but the tone is killer!
