I'm sorry to be so dense.. but I find this forum somewhat confusing to navigate. is it just me? Some of the threads are NOT in bold anymore, and some still are. And I can't for the life of me figure out how that is getting done. Is it by ME, does it depend on what I view, etc?

I'm trying figure out how to understand how to view this forum, so that I can make sure I am viewing all the latest messages that arrive, and how I can know whether or not I've visited a thread before. I see the key at the bottom. But this Bold thread title vs not bold gets me confused every time!

Thanks!

I think I just realized something... it's those sticky's at the top that throw me. If those were in a different color that would rule.

So, if say a sticky I have shown at the top is still Bold, even though I have looked at the thread, I have to look at every page to get it to NOT be bold? And if a thread has been read and isn't bold anymore, and someone replies to it, will it then turn to bold again?

Thanks!

It used to be that when you came in to read the threads, any new or unread threads would be highlighted. Once you read them, they wouldn't be highlighted. About 6 months ago or so that changed and I forget if Chewie said it was client or server related.

Anyhow, what I do now is come in and read the threads and before I leave I click on the "Quick Links" link above and then click "Mark Forums Read". That way when I come back only new threads or threads with comments since the last time I looked are highlighted. It's a bit cumbersome, but it works for me.

Usually if I click on a thread read a bit of it (not the whole thing) and then refresh the site it is not bold anymore .

It would be cool if I could catch my self up on the entire forum in one shot, and have only NEW posts make the thread titles bold and display at the top of the list when new replies to any thread come in. Seems like if I reply to a thread from a year ago, it won't show up as a "new reply" right? It stays where it's at in the thread chain, only it changes to bold right?

Wait.. I just realized something... that if I go to the next page... the stickies stay at the top, but the threads under the stickies change. It's hard to really notice cuz the stickies look just like the regular threads. Like I said, if the thread title box for stickies were a different color, then It would be easier to notice the difference. Or if stickies were in their own fixed frame, and all new pages changed underneath the stickies frame, that would rule.

If you respond to a thread from a year ago...it will then be placed at the top of the list on the most recent thread page.

If you reply to a topic it moves to the top of the list, just below the stickies, no matter how old.

When you reply on a thread it puts a check mark in the box on the listing page....

Bold means that thread has a new unread (by you) reply

Regular text means you have read it.

Occasionally on old threads with multiple pages, when a new reply is made and you click the "go to first unread post" button it will bring you to the beginning of the thread. That's just a quirk of the software.

I find the button for "last reply" or "last page" works great!
