Very nice!! But that looks like Cherry burst in that picture -honey is more brown. Maybe it's just the photo.

Also - be sure to slap a D-tuna and a push/pull coil tap pot when it arrives. That's how mine is. The SC sounds are surprisingly good. Seriously!

I had a buddy do the coil tap. It took him about 10 minutes. He had a diagram he got off the net. I used a DiMarzio push/pull pot - about $15 bucks at GC (IIRC).

The D-Tuna is a piece of cake and comes with very detailed and easy to understand instructions. If I can install it, then anyone can! :D It really is easy.

No worries! The D-tuna works great - just take the time necessary to properly adjust the little set screw. I also found that it works best with 9s instead of 10s - it'll work - but not as easily.

Good luck!

I had a coil tap on my amber Axis when I got it, but was very dissapointed with the sound, so I had it taken out and had it out back to stock. Plus you get the hum of a single coil pickup.

Hmmm.. I think a lot depends on the amp and how it reacts to 60 cycle hum. I also think the amp has a really big affect on the quality of the SC tone.

I used to have a Soldano HR50 and the Axis split always sounded very weak through it. In addition, it would give a decent amount of hum with only mild gain. Now I have an Orange RV and it loves SCs of all kinds, including my Axis in split mode. I can also really give it a lot of gain without being bothered with the 60 cycle hum. I don't know why, but the tone and hum are no longer issues with this amp. AND, if you hate the tone after splitting it, well, just don't pull up the knob anymore and you have your Axis as it was.

As far as the warranty, I have no idea - give customer service a phone call - I'm sure they can tell you.,,

The main reason I had the pot removed is that I didnt like the feel of it, regardless of its push/pull functionality! I suppose I am the worst person to comment on the split Axis sound as I dont really care for single coils.
