I have thought about taking lessons myself. I have been playing about 22 years and am pretty much self taught. My theory sucks and my technique is pretty lousy.... but at least I have fun! :)

The hard part is figuring out what level I should start at. I mean I know am not a beginner... so where do I "start"?

Ironically, my daughter is taking her first guitar lesson on Monday! I hope she likes playing. I have an extra SUB1 ready for her! ;)

You keep the TV on? I might do that if I'm goofing off but for practice it's 100% focus on the bass. I like to be able to hear any unnecessary noise caused by my playing (string noise, fingers, ringing strings, etc.). Also, scrap the metronome and use some type of drum/groove machine. It's more interesting and you'll still get the consistent timing while learning how to stay in the pocket in numerous styles.

ya thats essentially the problem. ive NEVER really "practiced" so im trying to start dong it "right".

the drum machine idea is great actaully. i easily loop something in garageband. thanks for the idea

That's cool, Arin! I've entertained the idea of getting lessons myself. I've been playing bass for a good 15 years or so, but sometimes I feel like I get into a rut & want to broaden my skills.
