I just left GC and all I have to say holy @#!$ that combo of guitar and amp was amazing and that Petrucci played awesome i love the roasted neck. I think i played it for over an hour. Also that Mark V head is killer, alot of switches to play with and it could do more then i had time to mess with while i was there.
It really made me want that guitar and amp , I have to talk myself away from it but its not easy. I do need a new amp but the price may be a bit high for me right now , but they did have an older Mesa Dual Rec Solo head that was much cheaper. I didnt have time to try it anyone out there have one or have played one? The guy also had me try out a marshall JVM im kinda on the fence about that one.
Right now i am thinking about selling off all my other guitars and effects and my other amps and just get a mesa and maybe that roasted JP.
DAMN YOU EBMM for making the BEST guitars out there I just can't stop wanting more , they all play so amazing.I will now be broke for the rest of the year but thats ok I will sound and look good with the guitar.

That is the sickness Gio as you have your True Gold Luke on order and are already looking to make another purchase, and I know the feeling all too well which I can only describe as the crack of the guitar world lol. The RM neck with the ebony board feels and plays does it not! I would just say analyze what move you make and do not sell anything that you really really love or would have a hard time replacing. When I sold 5 guitars in August they were all guitars that I could replace at anytime so I have zero regrets. If I were you though I would try and swing the RM JP if you can swing it though I think you will be able to score one from a store somewhere for about 6 months to a year.

Don't worry stray the stuff i'm selling can be replaced if need be but alot of it I dont use anymore. I'm trying to get down to just my Music man guitars , my first guitar which is my strat ,my beat up les paul , and my gretch. The others I havent touched in months. and everything else is just some pedals and a couple of amps.
If all goes right I would like to get one really good amp and a back up for practice.
The roasted neck just felt really nice this JP felt much different then the one i used to have. I'm still deciding what I really want to do with my Y2D , it really looks like that one my go , but who knows decisions decisions decisions.
if I can i would like to eventually like just to have my Sub 1 , my true gold luke , the roasted JP and a mark V head and the reflex also. a delay pedal chorus and my wah and thats it. I really want to minimize what I have to stuff I will use not stuff I thought I needed at the time.
The ad is up on craigslist we shall see how that goes and hopefully it will work out in the end.I ll have more room in my apartment and a cool new amp and maybe guitar.

I recently got a Mark 5; it is the coolest Boogie I have ever played. There are so many tonal options available on that amp, you will find your sound for sure. I just ordered a JP6 Mystic Dream, and I am really curious how the two will sound together in my hands. I wasn't a huge Dream Theater fan or John Petrucci fan, but was always curious about this guitar. After watching a ton of vids featuring JP and this guitar (as well as the Mark 5), he has become one of my new favs (as well as DT).

Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with the Mk5; I have had every boutique amp out there, and I decided the Mk5 was the way to go. It of course depends on your likes/taste, but I'd bet you'd love it.

Do it - sell off all the stuff you no longer use - I bet there's a load of stuff you could sell on the 'bay?
I did that when I got my first 'ball. Did some odd jobs too and after a while got enough to get the BCB AL - I don't regret getting it!!

In next to no time you'll have accumulated enough dosh to get 'em.

I have never used ebay though, I've always used craigslist but was thinkng it may be less of a headache using ebay.
so far I did sell one thing so thats cool. now alot more to go.
I'm just thinking of all the room my apartment will have if I can move some stuff. I;m going back to GC to try out the DUAL REC head see how that is and play the roasted JP again.

The one good thing about Ebay G is that you have millions of people looking at what you put up, the downside is you have to pay fees, but your gear will more than likely move faster.I am not one to do it but if you are going to move your Y2D say for the RM JP ask Slav how GC does there buy your used gear and then give you a 15% off coupon on top if you buy another guitar to see what it would come out too. Slav has done this a few times and it seems to workout good for him, and not because he is a friend I have to admit he is no dummy, just has bad taste in couches. But he usually can calculate an estimate.

I wouldn't sell my Y2D to GC i would much rather see it go another forum member who I know will appreciate it. Plus I went back to try out the Dual Rec head which I did not like at all , Mark V much much better. The roasted JP bridge pickup just about was falling out of the guitar , not sure what happened there but then they guy working said well I guess its got to go back to the shop again. dont know who they keep letting play that guitar but they said its had issues i guess from letting everyone wail on it.
Its already bee sold and returned, the reason it was returned was because of some sort of issues with it but they really didnt say. so i dont think i will be buying that particular one any time soon.
I may give ebay a try and see how it goes , can't hurt.
As for finding an amp still looking at my options , I was playing around with my boss powerstack pedal with the mxr 10 band eq and dialed right gives a pretty convincing mesa sound I'm just going to use that while things sell and save for what I really want in an amp.

That Mark V is a great amp! I played one of the proto hot rod Al HH's through one of the first ones at GC when Petrucci came to Boston. Absolutely great sound. I credited the guitar, though.....I could get sweet sounds and then switch pickups and make it growl and snarl.

Gio.....I still owe you an email. I've been spending all my time on craigslist buying and selling. :)
